Compared with toner coloring, masterbatch coloring has the following obvious advantages:
(1) The problem of environmental pollution caused by flying toner is improved. It is easy to change the color during use. It is not necessary to clean the hopper of the extruder, which is more convenient.
(2) Strong pertinence and correct color matching. Since the masterbatch manufacturing plant has reasonably selected pigments (dyes), auxiliaries, processing equipment, and processing techniques based on the performance of the applicable resin during the manufacturing process, the color difference that may be caused by different batches of toner in the production process is timely Carry out corrections, complementary colors, and inspect them before leaving the factory. Therefore, it can be ensured that the colors of the same brand of color masterbatch will remain relatively stable for the two batches of color.
(3) Compared with batch resin dry dyeing and granulation, the use of color masterbatch can reduce the resin performance aging caused by secondary processing of plastic products, which is beneficial to the improvement of the service life of plastic products. ”
The biggest advantage of using color masterbatch is: in the processing process, the pigment is fully mixed with the carrier resin under the action of the auxiliary agent. When in use, it is placed in the resin to be processed in a certain proportion, the color masterbatch quickly enters the role, and the resin is recognized as “in-law”. Affinity—Compatibility is obviously better than that of toner coloring, so it is better for manufacturers of film and spinning products.
Of course, the coloring of masterbatch also has its limitations. Due to the small amount of addition, the processing time of plastic products is short. Due to the limitation of the extruder screw length-to-diameter ratio, the dispersion of masterbatch is often not as good as that of toner. With one more manufacturing process, the cost of dyeing must be higher than that of toner.
When the performance of the carrier in the color masterbatch is different from that of the resin to be colored, undispersed spots, color spots, and patterns often appear on the surface of the plastic product. Therefore, the use of the color masterbatch is limited due to its compatibility and dispersibility. The production requires a minimum order quantity, which is not suitable for the production of injection molded parts with a few non-universal colors.
